"Nice beach. Parking was a nightmare though."

Grand Anse on La Digue is a massive, untamed beach. Imagine a long stretch of fine, pale sand, framed by takamaka trees and coconut palms. The Indian Ocean spills out, a vast blue sheet to the horizon. This isn't the calm, protected water of Anse Source d'Argent. Grand Anse faces open ocean; expect serious waves, a powerful, unfiltered taste of nature.
Granite hills, thick with tropical forest, rise behind the beach. You'll get here by bike or on foot, pedaling through La Digue's green heart. Cars? Almost nonexistent. Keep an eye out near the Veuve Nature Reserve for the Seychelles paradise flycatcher, a truly rare bird. For more solitude, trek over the granite formations to Petite Anse and Anse Cocos. Their inaccessibility keeps them quiet. Grand Anse, even during the busy October shoulder season, often feels like your own private island.
