"Worth the detour. Bring water shoes — pebbles in places."

Çıralı is the Turkish Riviera's last truly unspoiled beach village — a 3-kilometer crescent of natural pebble and sand beach backed by orange and pomegranate orchards, where sea turtles nest and the eternal flames of the Chimera burn on the hillside above. The ancient Chimera — natural gas vents that have burned continuously for at least 2,500 years — inspired the Greek myth of the fire-breathing monster and are an unforgettable sight at night, reached via a 30-minute uphill hike. Çıralı is protected as a sea turtle nesting zone, which has prevented the high-rise development that transformed nearby Kemer and Antalya.
The village retains an authentic Turkish rural character with family-run pensions surrounded by citrus trees, and traditional lokantas serving home-cooked gözleme, fresh fish, and local honey. The ancient Lycian city of Olympos lies in atmospheric ruins at the southern end of the beach, accessible through a river valley shaded by laurel and plane trees. Swimming is excellent in the clean, warm Mediterranean water.
