"Wow. Just wow. Came back the next day."

The Marinello lagoon beaches beneath Tindari are one of Sicily's most surreal natural landscapes — a series of sandy spits and shallow turquoise lagoons that constantly shift and reshape with the tides and currents, creating an ever-changing mosaic of sand, pools, and sea. The beaches sit directly below the cliff-top sanctuary of the Black Madonna of Tindari, one of Sicily's most important pilgrimage sites, adding a spiritual dimension to the natural beauty. The lagoons are a protected nature reserve (Riserva Naturale Orientata Laghetti di Marinello) home to migratory birds, rare orchids, and Mediterranean tortoises.
The water in the lagoons is remarkably warm — significantly warmer than the open sea — creating natural spa-like conditions. Above the beach, the ruins of ancient Tyndaris, founded by Dionysius of Syracuse in 396 BC, include a well-preserved Roman theater with stunning sea views. Access is via a trail from above or boat from the shore — the hiking approach offers dramatic panoramic views.
