About
San Domenico Palace, a Four Seasons Hotel, perches on a Taormina clifftop. Mount Etna, the Ionian Sea – its backdrop is so intense, it actually shaped the second season of The White Lotus. This place began as a fourteenth-century Dominican convent. Centuries of restoration kept the barrel-vaulted corridors, cloistered gardens, and frescoed chapels, then layered in that signature Four Seasons luxury.
The infinity pool seems to hang over the ancient Greek Theatre. Gardens, terraced and lush, smell of jasmine, citrus, and bougainvillea. At Principe Cerami, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Chef Massimo Mantarro runs the show. He turns local tuna, Bronte pistachios, and Etna wines into high-end Sicilian dishes. Anciovi, the second restaurant, is a more casual trattoria out on a panoramic terrace – try the grilled swordfish.
The spa is in the old sacristy. Stone archways frame treatment rooms, all focused on Mediterranean botanicals. The hotel has one hundred and eleven rooms and suites. They mix old-world character with modern comfort. San Domenico Palace offers a Sicilian journey: historic, beautiful, and supremely hospitable.

Frequently Asked Questions about San Domenico Palace, A Four Seasons Hotel
What kind of dining experiences can I expect at San Domenico Palace?
San Domenico Palace delivers exceptional dining. Principessa offers refined Sicilian flavors in a fine dining setting, with dramatic sea views – try the spaghetti alla Norma. Prefer something lighter? The Ancient Cloister Bar serves cocktails and small plates, surrounded by the building's historic walls.
Are there family-friendly activities available at the hotel?
San Domenico Palace keeps a sophisticated, adult vibe, but families are absolutely welcome. They'll set up all sorts of local trips kids actually enjoy. Plus, the sprawling grounds have plenty of space for everyone to relax or play.
What is the best time of year to visit San Domenico Palace?
For San Domenico Palace, aim for late spring, specifically April to May. Early autumn, September through October, is another excellent choice. You’ll get warm, comfortable weather — perfect for exploring Taormina’s ancient theater or the hotel’s clifftop infinity pool. Plus, you’ll dodge the summer crush of tourists.
Does the hotel have direct beach access or arrange beach excursions?
San Domenico Palace sits high on a Taormina cliff, so you'll get sweeping views, not direct beach access. Don't worry, though. The hotel staff can sort out all your transport and recommend the best spots, like Isola Bella or Mazzarò, both just a quick trip down the road. Try the granita at a beachside cafe.
