"Took the kids (6 and 9) — shallow entry, no big waves, exactly what we needed. Renting two loungers was around €25 which felt steep but we did it anyway."

Camps Bay Beach offers a singular urban spectacle: a long sweep of white sand, backed by the Twelve Apostles mountain range, fronted by the Atlantic Ocean. Its palm-lined promenade, dotted with upscale restaurants and cocktail bars, evokes the French Riviera, yet pulses with an undeniable South African vibe. Table Mountain’s flat-topped mass anchors the skyline directly behind the beach; you can even spot the cable car from the sand.
Ocean temperatures hover between 15-20°C, thanks to the Benguela Current, making the water bracing. But the beach itself basks in sun. Sunset drinks here are legendary, watching the sky ignite in oranges and pinks behind Lion's Head.
Look for southern right whales from June through November – they often put on a show right offshore.
