Bijeca Beach in Medulin is Istria's most popular sandy beach — a 1-kilometer stretch of fine sand and shallow, calm water at the southern tip of the Istrian peninsula. The beach slopes very gently into the warm Adriatic, staying knee-deep for 50 meters or more — making it the perfect choice for families with small children. The sand is soft and golden, unusual for Istria's generally rocky coastline.
Medulin sits in a sheltered bay with views toward the Kamenjak Cape Nature Park, a wild and beautiful headland with hidden swimming coves, cliff jumping spots, and a famous beach bar (Safari Bar) carved into the rocks. The wider Istria region is Croatia's gastronomic capital — renowned for its world-class truffles, olive oils, and wines, particularly the indigenous Malvazija white. The hilltop towns of Rovinj, Motovun, and Grožnjan, each with distinct medieval Venetian character, make excellent day trips.
Pula, with its magnificent Roman amphitheater (one of the best-preserved in the world), is just 10 kilometers north.
